Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a joint ticket featuring Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, with Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as his running mate.
The announcement was made on Thursday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, where he framed the decision as part of efforts to ensure continuity in governance and strengthen leadership capacity in the state.
Sanwo-Olu said the choice reflects the administration’s emphasis on experience, stability, and inclusiveness, noting that leadership succession should build on existing progress rather than disrupt ongoing reforms.
He described the ticket as one that represents “the strength, diversity, and future” of Lagos State, stressing that sustainable governance requires continuity guided by capable leadership.
Praising Hamzat’s role in the current administration, the governor said the deputy governor has proven to be a reliable partner and committed public servant dedicated to the state’s development. He also highlighted Princess Sonayon-James’ background in sustainability and community-driven initiatives, describing her as a grassroots-oriented leader with strong youth engagement credentials.
Sanwo-Olu urged party members and residents to support the APC ticket ahead of the election, saying both candidates possess the experience and competence needed to advance development in the state.
