FIFA Rankings: Super Eagles Stay 26th as Argentina Retain World No.1 Spot

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have maintained their 26th position in the latest men’s FIFA rankings released by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) on Thursday.

At the top of the global standings, world champions Argentina have retained their number one position, strengthening their status ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Albiceleste remain at the summit of world football following a series of impressive results in recent international fixtures. Spain sits in second place, while France occupies third position.

Spain held on to the runner-up spot after recording a draw and a win in their latest matches, while France dropped to third after a defeat followed by a return to winning ways. England and Portugal complete the top five, with Brazil ranked sixth.

For Nigeria, the Super Eagles had a mixed run of results during their recent international fixtures, including participation in the Unity Cup in London where they recorded victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica.

However, the team later drew 2-2 with Poland and suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Portugal in a friendly match. Meanwhile, Morocco remains Africa’s highest-ranked team, sitting in seventh place globally after continuing its strong rise in world football.
