Sevilla forward Rafa Mir has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault and bodily harm, according to the Valencian Community High Court of Justice.
The court stated that Mir was convicted of one count of sexual assault and one count of bodily harm following a trial held on May 28. The provincial court of Valencia delivered the verdict, while the high court noted that the decision can still be appealed.
A second defendant, described as a friend of the footballer, was also convicted. He received a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for sexual assault and an offence against moral integrity, along with a fine for a minor bodily harm offence.
The court also ordered Mir, who had pleaded not guilty throughout the proceedings, to pay €64,000 (about $74,000) in compensation to the victim.
The offences were said to have occurred on September 1, 2024, at Mir’s home in Bétera, in the Valencian region, after he and his friend met two women at a nightclub.
The 28-year-old striker, who came through Valencia’s youth academy, previously joined Wolves in 2018 before signing for Sevilla in 2021. He was later loaned back to Valencia in July 2024, arrested in September 2024, and spent the 2025–26 season on loan at Elche. Mir has also represented Spain at youth level.
