Tinubu Commends Security Forces After Elimination of Notorious Bandit Leader in Kogi

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity across the country, declaring that Nigeria will not cede any part of its territory to criminal elements.

The President made the statement while commending the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for a successful joint operation that resulted in the killing of notorious bandit leader Ibrahim Bastuji in Kogi State.

According to reports, Bastuji and several of his associates were neutralised while allegedly planning attacks on a school and residents of Iluke Bunu in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area. The operation was described as a significant setback for criminal networks operating within the region.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the security agencies for what he called a decisive achievement in the fight against violent crime. He stated that individuals who choose violence against innocent citizens would find no safe haven anywhere in the country.

The President also applauded security operatives for rescuing Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, the widow of former Chief of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd), from kidnappers in Katsina State. She regained her freedom during an operation carried out by troops of the 17 Brigade in Tunga Village, where soldiers engaged the abductors as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal groups in the area.

Describing the rescue as evidence of the professionalism and courage of Nigeria’s security personnel, Tinubu said the safe return of the widow brought relief to her family and the nation. He expressed gratitude to troops and security operatives who continue to risk their lives daily in the service of protecting citizens and safeguarding the country.
