FRSC Promotes 7,472 Personnel Nationwide

The Federal Road Safety Corps has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel across Nigeria, comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, leadership and the agency’s road safety operations.

The promotion is aimed at recognising personnel who have demonstrated merit, competence, discipline, dedication and commitment throughout their years of service.

In a statement released on Friday, the Corps Public Education Officer at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, Osondu Ohaeri, announced that the newly promoted personnel would be decorated by their respective Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers.

The decoration exercise is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, August 26, to Friday, August 28, 2026.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both recognition for past service and a call to greater responsibility.

He urged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence placed in them by demonstrating increased professionalism, accountability, leadership and commitment to service.

“Every new rank must translate into a higher level of professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery,” Mohammed said.

The Corps Marshal stressed that the strength and effectiveness of the FRSC were not determined solely by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement systems, but also by the character, quality and dedication of its personnel.

“The strength of FRSC is not measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement architecture, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of the men and women who stand between road users and the consequences of unsafe road behaviour,” he said.

Mohammed congratulated the 2,134 promoted officers and 5,338 marshals, urging them to regard their elevation as an opportunity to contribute more meaningfully to the Corps and the nation.

He charged them to do more, provide better leadership and serve with greater distinction, noting that every additional rank carries higher expectations from the FRSC, the Federal Government and Nigerians.

The Corps Marshal also reminded the newly promoted personnel of the importance of maintaining discipline both while on duty and in their private conduct. He urged them to treat members of the public with dignity and uphold the integrity and professional standards of the Corps.

The promotion comes as the FRSC continues to intensify its enforcement, technological, operational and public enlightenment programmes aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations across the country.

According to the Corps, maintaining a motivated and professionally developed workforce remains essential to the success of these interventions and the achievement of measurable improvements in road safety.

The newly promoted personnel were urged to approach their new responsibilities with renewed commitment, with the FRSC stressing that rank is not merely something worn, but something “earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service.”

The Corps congratulated all the promoted officers and marshals and wished them success as they take up their new responsibilities in service to the nation.
