The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has disassociated itself from an association operating as the National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Federal Unity Colleges, stating that the group has neither been recognised nor authorised to represent Parent-Teacher Associations in the country’s 117 Federal Unity Colleges.
The Ministry explained that the association does not have the authority to speak for the individual PTAs, parents, guardians or management of any of the Federal Unity Colleges.
According to the Ministry, any directive, statement, appeal or other form of communication issued by the association has no official recognition or standing. Parents, guardians and members of the public have therefore been advised to disregard such communications.
The FME urged parents and guardians to obtain information concerning the Federal Unity Colleges, their children and wards, as well as school programmes and activities, only through official channels of the Federal Ministry of Education and the management of the respective colleges.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, has called on parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards have returned to their respective Federal Unity Colleges following the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session nationwide.
The Minister, speaking on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring effective administration of the Federal Unity Colleges and providing students with a supportive and conducive learning environment.
He further assured that the Ministry remains focused on providing the necessary support for students’ academic progress and overall development throughout the 2026/2027 academic session.
