Dangote Refinery Offers N10 Rebate on Petrol to Customers

Monday, May 12, 2025 | 7:49 AM WAT Last Updated 2025-05-12T14:49:16Z

The Dangote Petrochemicals Refinery has quietly reduced its effective ex-gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to N825 per litre, offering a N10 rebate to customers after product loading—despite the publicly announced price of N835 per litre.

Sources confirmed on Monday that while marketers initially pay N835 per litre, they receive a N10 refund post-evacuation, effectively lowering the cost.

This rebate strategy has enabled Dangote’s customers and marketers to retail petrol between N830 and N835 per litre, giving them a competitive edge over importers and private depot owners.

A source explained, “The Dangote refinery has started giving a rebate on its products. It’s not an official reduction yet, but paid back after marketers buy products from them.”

This development follows two price cuts by the refinery last month, when it reduced its gantry price by N45, from N880 to N835 per litre within one week.

Attempts to get an official statement from Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina on the latest rebate were unsuccessful.
