President Bola Tinubu has been honoured with the Lifetime African Achievement Award by the Millennium Excellence Foundation in Ghana, according to the Dip Connects Online News.
The award was presented during the foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration of the Millennium Excellence Prize in Kumasi, Ghana, where Tinubu was recognised as the Special Guest of Honour. Representing the President at the ceremony was Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
In his remarks, Tinubu thanked Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and patron of the Foundation, for the honour and for the successful organisation of the event. He praised the Foundation’s enduring commitment over 25 years to honouring individuals who embody values of honour, integrity, service, and excellence.
He lauded the Foundation for recognising distinguished African icons such as the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Prof. Wole Soyinka, President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Dr Mo Ibrahim, among others.
The President used the occasion to encourage young Africans to boldly contribute to building a more united, peaceful, and prosperous continent, especially through science, technology, education, governance, entrepreneurship, and the arts.
He urged Africans to collaborate in shaping a shared destiny and called on the Foundation to continue investing in youth development and fostering cross-border collaboration while promoting leadership rooted in service.
Tinubu commended the award’s legacy, noting that since its inception in 1988, the Millennium Excellence Prize has remained a symbol of inspiration and continental recognition, aligning with Nigeria’s aspirations and those of all African nations.
