Lagos LG Poll: Fashola Fails to Vote at Polling Unit

Former Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, was noticeably absent from his polling unit on Saturday during the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections, despite expectations that he would vote for his party’s candidates.

Fashola, who was also expected to arrive with his wife, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, did not show up at any point during the exercise, which began at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m.

Dip Connects Online News recalls that the former Minister of Power, Works and Housing was similarly absent during the 2021 local government elections.

Journalists who waited for Fashola at Polling Unit 002, located at State Junior Grammar School (Special) on Itolo Street, Eric Moore, Surulere, arrived at 8:19 a.m. when voting commenced but eventually dispersed after hours of waiting. Some stayed until voting ended, hoping he would appear.

At the unit, where Fashola was registered to vote, voter turnout was relatively low. Out of 1,355 registered voters, only 213 turned out to cast their ballots for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions.
