Women Affairs Minister Congratulates Comptroller-General of Customs on Tenure Extension

The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, following the extension of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In a statement released on Thursday by her Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Mr. Jonathan Eze, the Minister praised CG Adeniyi’s exemplary leadership, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to national service. She highlighted the Comptroller-General's achievements in reforming and modernizing the Nigeria Customs Service, citing notable progress in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and anti-smuggling operations—all of which have significantly contributed to Nigeria’s economic stability and national security.

Hajiya Imaan expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for demonstrating continued confidence in capable and patriotic public servants, noting that the decision underscores the President’s commitment to excellence, continuity, and institutional resilience in strategic sectors.

She also voiced optimism that CG Adeniyi’s extended tenure will ensure continuity in ongoing reforms and strengthen collaboration with other government bodies, especially in initiatives that promote women’s economic empowerment and social development.

“The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs looks forward to deepening its partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service under CG Adeniyi’s leadership, particularly in areas such as protecting the rights of women and children, combatting human trafficking, and advancing inclusive national policies,” she added.
