Police Launch Probe as Former OGTV Broadcaster, Security Guard Found Dead in Ogun Home

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the deaths of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, whose bodies were discovered at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of Ogun State.

The Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday by its Public Relations Officer, CSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.

According to the police spokesperson, the discovery followed a report from a concerned resident who raised an alarm over unusual activities around the property. The report prompted officers to visit the residence for inspection.

Upon arrival, police detectives observed signs of forced entry and evidence suggesting that the premises had been disturbed.

A detailed search of the compound led to the discovery of the security guard's body inside the security post, while the corpse of the retired broadcaster was later found within her apartment.

The police also noted that Oyesiku's vehicle was missing from the premises, a development that has heightened suspicions that the deaths may be linked to criminal activity.

Babaseyi stated, “Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary assessment revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance.

“During a thorough search of the premises, the corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms. Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. The victim’s vehicle was also observed missing from the premises.”

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, directed detectives to conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify those responsible.

The police said intelligence-driven operations and surveillance activities have been expanded across strategic locations to aid the investigation and facilitate the recovery of the missing vehicle.

The Command expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the management of OGTV, and members of the media community, describing the incident as both shocking and tragic.

Residents were also urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing any information that could assist investigators in solving the case.

The incident recalls a similar tragedy reported in September 2025, when the Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed the deaths of an ARISE News presenter, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, and a security guard during an attack by suspected armed robbers in the Katampe area of Abuja.

ARISE News management had announced that armed robbers invaded Maduagwu’s residence, leading to her death.

Subsequently, in January, police arraigned 11 suspects before a Federal Capital Territory court on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder in connection with the incident.
