Security operatives in Ogun State have arrested suspected Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff and a politician found with a large sum of money allegedly meant for vote buying during the state by-election.
The suspects, including a male and female INEC official, were apprehended on Saturday at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area.
In a viral video, the INEC staff were seen squatting as security agents interrogated them, with some alleged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also present.
According to the interrogating officer, intelligence reports indicated that the officials had earlier been contacted and given huge sums of money by party representatives to facilitate vote buying during the by-election.
