Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is set to join Olympique Marseille on loan for the remainder of the 2025‑26 season, with the agreement reportedly in its final stages. The loan is expected to be a straight deal without a buy option.
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Nwaneri, 17, has held positive discussions with Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi, while Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been actively involved in facilitating the move. Both clubs consider Marseille an ideal environment for the young midfielder to gain first-team experience in a competitive league.
Romano tweeted:
"Ethan Nwaneri has accepted to join Olympique Marseille! Arsenal also believes it’s the best solution on loan. Arteta spoke with Roberto de Zerbi, and OM is seen as the ideal solution. Straight loan deal at final stages, no buy option clause, expected to be agreed soon."
Arsenal view the loan as crucial for Nwaneri’s development, prioritising regular playing time in Ligue 1 over limited minutes in the Premier League.
The move is expected to be completed shortly, enabling Nwaneri to join his new teammates and continue his progression in France’s top flight.
