Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has appealed to the public for financial assistance after revealing that she has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is facing severe financial and housing challenges.
The actress made the appeal during a recent live broadcast in which she shared details of her ongoing struggles, including homelessness and mounting medical expenses.
Halima disclosed that her situation worsened after her mother was diagnosed with a hernia and had to undergo surgery, further stretching her finances.
“I need your help. I have just been evicted from my house. I have been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Yesterday, my caretaker came to tell me to leave the house. The money contributed for my health, which I wanted to use to pay my rent, was rejected by my landlady,” she said, adding that she has packed her belongings and currently has nowhere to stay.
She appealed directly to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM), and Seyi Tinubu, urging them to come to her aid. Halima also lamented that several colleagues in the entertainment industry have not responded to her calls for help.
“Yahaya Bello, VDM, Seyi Tinubu, everyone, I need your help. I have nobody. I cannot even reach any celebrities; none of them is answering my calls. I called Don Jazzy, but there was no response,” she said.
The actress further appealed to Nigerians for support, explaining that funds set aside for her surgery were diverted to address urgent needs, including rent and her mother’s medical bills.
“I need help from Nigerians for money to handle many things. I would not have come out to seek help if not for my mother’s hospital bill, which I paid in October. It was ₦9 million for her hernia surgery, and I am still owing,” she added.
