Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara has approved the appointment of a new Chief of Staff and a new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.
According to the statement, Governor Fubara appointed Dr Dagogo S. A. Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government, while Barrister Sunny Ewule was named as the new Chief of Staff. The appointments take immediate effect.
The governor had earlier dissolved his team of aides, including the former Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and the former SSG, Dr Benibo Anabraba, in the wake of the political crisis in the state and the Abuja-brokered peace agreement.
However, the statement noted that the newly appointed officials would be formally sworn in to commence their official duties.
It read: “The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Dr Dagogo S. A. Wokoma as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as the Chief of Staff (CoS). Both appointments are with immediate effect.
“The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 pm today, Thursday, February 26, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.”
