NAF to Step Up Air Strikes as CAS Aneke Orders Intensified Operations Against Terrorists

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) determination to intensify air operations against insurgents and terrorist groups, stressing the Service’s commitment to decisive, intelligence-driven action across all operational theatres.

Air Marshal Aneke made this known on Tuesday during a strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders (ACCs), which he described as a crucial war-fighting review forum aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and accelerating the restoration of peace nationwide.

He said the engagement provided an opportunity to critically assess ongoing missions, close operational gaps, and realign strategies to respond effectively to emerging security threats. According to him, counter-insurgency operations require speed, precision, and sustained pressure on hostile elements.

“We must dominate the operational space through superior coordination, innovation, and unwavering professionalism. Every sortie, every mission, and every decision must move us closer to total security restoration,” the CAS charged.

He emphasised that the NAF would continue to deploy overwhelming airpower in support of ground forces and joint military operations.

Commending the ACCs and their personnel, Air Marshal Aneke praised their courage, endurance, and operational discipline under demanding combat conditions, noting that their sacrifices have resulted in measurable gains in degrading insurgent capabilities and disrupting hostile networks.

He said these successes align with his Command Philosophy of building a highly motivated, mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive outcomes.

“Our personnel remain our greatest strength. Their resilience in the face of adversity proves that the Nigerian Air Force is prepared, focused, and battle-ready,” he stated.

However, the CAS cautioned that the security landscape remains fluid and requires continuous adaptation. He directed commanders to intensify intelligence-led operations, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and fully leverage modern technology to stay ahead of evolving threats.

He also underscored the importance of standardised training, predictive maintenance, and rapid logistics support as key pillars for sustaining combat effectiveness.

The meeting featured detailed operational briefings and interactive reviews, with Branch Chiefs and senior officers contributing to the development of a unified operational roadmap.

Reassuring Nigerians, Air Marshal Aneke said the NAF is maintaining relentless operational momentum and will not cede ground to forces threatening national stability. He stressed that all operational decisions are guided by the protection of civilians, national assets, and Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

“The Nigerian Air Force stands as a shield over the nation. We remain vigilant, aggressive against threats, and fully aligned with our constitutional duty to safeguard the country,” he affirmed.

The NAF further assured the public that its operational posture is designed to deliver sustained security gains, pledging to continue evolving, strengthening partnerships, and applying decisive airpower until lasting peace is achieved.

Nigerians were urged to remain confident in the Armed Forces, as the CAS reiterated that the path ahead is defined by resilience, professionalism, and an unyielding commitment to national security.
