U.S. Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Impose Death Penalty for Child Rapists

U.S. Representative Nancy Mace has introduced the “Death Penalty for Child Rapists Act,” a bill that seeks to amend federal law and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) to authorize the death penalty for aggravated sexual abuse, sexual abuse of a minor, and abusive sexual contact offenses against children.

In a statement shared on her official Twitter handle, @RepNancyMace, the South Carolina lawmaker emphasized the bill’s aim to ensure that perpetrators of child sexual abuse face the harshest possible consequences.

“There are no excuses for harming children. We've spent months fighting to expose Jeffrey Epstein's network of powerful predators. We've demanded accountability and pushed for transparency. Now we're making sure anyone who rapes a child faces the ultimate consequence,” Mace said.

The legislation would also extend the death penalty to cases of child rape under military law, reflecting the bill’s comprehensive approach across both civilian and military jurisdictions.

Mace stressed that children are among society’s most vulnerable and that those who prey on them deserve the strongest possible legal penalties. The bill is positioned as a major step toward tougher accountability for sexual crimes against minors and builds on national efforts to protect children from abuse.
