Kwara Youths Stage Peaceful Protest Demanding Government Action on Rising Insecurity

Hundreds of youths from Kwara State staged a peaceful protest today at the Kwara State Government House, demanding urgent action from authorities to address escalating insecurity in their communities.

Organized by groups including the Take It Back (TIB) Movement, the demonstrators marched to the government complex carrying placards and chanting slogans highlighting rampant killings, kidnappings, and banditry affecting areas such as Edu, Patigi, and Kaiama Local Government Areas.

The protesters described the demonstration as a peaceful appeal to the state government to enhance security measures, protect residents, and curb the growing wave of violence in the region.

In statements shared with journalists, participants called for immediate intervention to ensure the safety of families and communities in the northern part of the state, which they said has been severely affected by armed attacks and kidnappings.

No reports of clashes with security forces or disruptions to public order emerged, with observers noting that the protest was orderly and focused on amplifying the concerns of residents affected by insecurity.

The demonstration reflects broader concerns across Nigeria, where communities have increasingly taken to the streets to demand accountability and swift action in the face of persistent insecurity.
