Comedian Mr. Jollof Celebrates Constant Electricity Supply, Calls for State-Level Accountability

Nigerian comedian Mr. Jollof has shared his personal experience of improved electricity supply under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that access to power varies across states and encouraging citizens to hold their local governments accountable.

In a recent video, Mr. Jollof explained that while he had previously faced challenges with inconsistent power supply, the current administration has significantly improved electricity access in his area. “The electricity supply we get now is far better than the previous administration,” he said. “I no longer need an inverter because the power is constant.”

He noted that personal experiences should not be generalized to the entire country. “Some people have challenges in their states, and that’s fine. But don’t take your personal problem and say it’s the whole country. Every state can generate and supply electricity independently. If you don’t get light, ask your governor or commissioner of power why,” he advised.

Mr. Jollof shared that electricity in his location has been consistent, with power staying on for hours, describing it as a significant improvement compared to past administrations. “Three hours later, I can still show you. Five hours later, I can still show you. This is real,” he said.

He also highlighted the broader context of electricity access in Nigeria, explaining that some people benefit from government initiatives while others face challenges due to local administrative inefficiencies. “The way I get light, some other people also get light. It’s not just for one man,” he added.

While acknowledging criticism from some quarters for sharing his positive experience, Mr. Jollof maintained that discussing personal experiences does not equate to defending the government. “If I get light, I share it. If you don’t get light, ask those responsible in your state,” he said.

The comedian also emphasized that reliable electricity comes at a cost, noting that his monthly power bill reaches nearly ₦300,000, but he considers it a worthwhile investment for constant electricity supply.
