Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, the D’Tigress, is ready to take on the world after head coach Rena Wakama named her final 12-player squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Villeurbanne, France.
The tournament runs from March 11 to 17, with Nigeria set to face France, the Philippines, Colombia, Germany, and South Korea. The African champions open their campaign against Colombia on March 11.
Wakama’s squad features a mix of seasoned stars and rising talents, including Ezinne Kalu, Promise Amukamara, Amy Okonkwo, Murjanatu Musa, and Sarah Ogoke, who all made the final cut from the provisional roster.
“This squad combines experience and youthful energy. We’re ready to compete at the highest level and showcase Nigerian basketball on the global stage,” Wakama said.
With eyes on World Cup qualification, the D’Tigress will aim to continue their dominance in African basketball and make a strong mark internationally.
