Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido is facing a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit filed by the lawyer representing Sophia Momodu, escalating tensions in an already high-profile child custody battle.
The suit, filed by Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah through Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, follows what was described as a heated court session on February 12, 2026. According to court documents, Davido allegedly verbally attacked the lawyer during proceedings and later took to social media, branding her the “worst lawyer ever.”
Enedah’s legal team argues that the statements were defamatory and damaging to her professional reputation. The lawsuit is seeking a public apology, an immediate retraction of the remarks, and ₦1 billion in damages.
The case adds a new legal dimension to the ongoing custody dispute, drawing significant public and media attention given Davido’s global profile and influence in the music industry.
As of press time, the award-winning artist has not issued any public response to the lawsuit.
