Joan Laporta Re-elected FC Barcelona President in Landslide Victory

Joan Laporta has been re-elected as president of FC Barcelona following a decisive win in the club’s presidential election held on March 15, 2026.

Laporta secured 32,934 votes about 68% of the total cast defeating rival Víctor Font, who received 14,385 votes. More than 48,000 club members (socios) participated in the election, making it one of the most closely watched in recent years.

The victory grants Laporta another five-year term, keeping him at the helm of the Catalan club until 2031. This marks his fourth overall stint as Barcelona president, having previously served from 2003 to 2010 and returning in 2021 to navigate financial and structural challenges.

During his campaign, Laporta highlighted the progress achieved under his leadership, including efforts to reduce the club’s wage bill, increase revenues, and advance the Camp Nou redevelopment project. He also pledged to continue strengthening the men’s football squad and consolidating the club’s financial recovery.

Speaking after his win, Laporta said: “Exciting years are coming.” The statement reflects optimism for Barcelona’s future both on and off the pitch, as the club seeks to remain competitive domestically and in European competitions.
