Nollywood superstar Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that she turned down multiple opportunities that could have made her a billionaire, including lucrative offers with political connections, because they conflicted with her personal values.
In a recent interview, the veteran actress explained that she had been presented with deals that, while financially rewarding, would have required her to compromise her principles.
“I’ve been put in situations where no one would have known, and I could have taken things and compromised my stand… I said no and I walked away. Many times,” Omotola said.
She added that some of the individuals behind these offers are still observing her career today. Importantly, her decisions were not necessarily about rejecting illegal or unethical opportunities, but about protecting the integrity of her beliefs and the message she represents.
Omotola stressed: “I tell people if I wanted to be a billionaire, I would have been it easily. But I chose to stand by my principles.”
The actress noted that even seemingly harmless deals could dilute her message or weaken the values she embodies, which is why she consistently opted to walk away despite the enormous financial rewards.
Her revelation shines a light on the rare courage and discipline required to prioritize principles over wealth, a decision that continues to shape her legacy both in Nollywood and internationally.
