Veteran Nollywood actress Remi Surutu has publicly declared her unwavering support for Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging citizens not to allow intimidation or criticism to influence their political choices.
Speaking during a recent engagement, the actress said she remains undeterred despite years of backlash she claims to have faced online over her political stance. According to her, she has consistently campaigned for the president and endured insults from critics but remains firm in her decision to support him.
Surutu challenged those dissatisfied with Tinubu’s performance, saying they should first consider the complexity of leadership before passing judgment.
“If you think he has not done well, suggest a man in your family and let him govern for just one day,” she said.
The actress argued that leadership comes with responsibilities and challenges that many people may not fully understand until they experience them firsthand.
Encouraging Nigerians to freely exercise their democratic rights, Surutu added: “Your vote is your right. Don’t let anybody deceive you or scare you.” She emphasised that she would continue to campaign openly for the president, stressing that Tinubu already has her vote.
Surutu also maintained that Nigeria might have faced a more serious crisis without the interventions of the current administration, noting that many of the government’s efforts are not always visible to the public.
Reaffirming her position, the actress said she remains determined to stand by her convictions regardless of criticism or threats, insisting she will continue to publicly support the president.
