Soludo’s Second-Term Inauguration: Governor Unveils Bold Vision for Igbo Unity, Political Power, and Regional Renaissance

Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has called for greater unity, strategic political engagement, and renewed commitment to regional development among Ndi Igbo, as he was sworn in for a second term in office.

Delivering his inaugural address, Soludo emphasized the need for a fairer Nigeria where all citizens have equal opportunities to succeed, irrespective of language, religion, or region. He also reiterated his long-standing advocacy for a restructured and more dynamic federal system that ensures inclusivity and balanced development.

The governor urged the South-East to take a more active role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape, warning against political apathy and disengagement. According to him, meaningful influence in a democracy is driven by participation, particularly through voting strength and effective organization.

“In a democracy, you don’t always get what you deserve you get what you bargain for, and that begins with your votes,” he stated, stressing that the region must leverage its collective electoral power to remain relevant in national affairs.

Soludo further called for a unified movement aimed at transforming the Igbo homeland into a hub of prosperity, innovation, and opportunity. He encouraged citizens to move beyond complaints and adopt a more strategic approach to development and national engagement.

Drawing inspiration from past Eastern Region leaders such as Michael Okpara and Ukpabi Asika, the governor highlighted the importance of reviving the legacy of visionary leadership and post-war resilience that once defined the region.

He also stressed the need for collaboration with other parts of the country to ensure that longstanding commitments to the South-East, particularly in infrastructure and reconstruction, are fulfilled.

Reaffirming his administration’s vision, Soludo described the goal as building a livable and prosperous region that contributes meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth as the largest Black nation in the world.
