Tiwa Savage Launches Music Foundation to Support Emerging African Talent

Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has officially unveiled the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a non-profit initiative designed to provide music education, mentorship, and global industry access to emerging African talents.

The foundation was launched at the Delborough Hotel, with notable dignitaries including Babajide Sanwo-Olu in attendance. The Lagos State Governor praised the singer’s efforts to invest in the next generation of creatives.

Speaking at the launch, Savage explained that the foundation was created to address a major gap in the music ecosystem.

“We don’t lack talent in Nigeria; we have so much talent. What we need is infrastructure, education, and access. I want to build something that bridges that gap and connects our creatives to opportunities around the world,” she said.

The foundation’s first major initiative, ‘Berklee In Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Emerging Musicianship Intensive’, will run from April 23–26, 2026 in Lagos. The four-day intensive program will provide free professional music training for 100 selected participants, offering exposure to world-class teaching methods from Berklee College of Music.

Participants will receive hands-on training in performance, songwriting, music production, sound engineering, music publishing, film scoring, music therapy, and music business.

Outstanding participants may also be selected for fully funded scholarships to Berklee College of Music, including accommodation.

Savage revealed that her own career was transformed after receiving a scholarship to Berklee at age 24, an experience that exposed her to the broader structure of the global music industry.

“Music changed my life. But talent alone isn’t enough when access is limited. I want to build something that shows young creatives the full scope of what’s possible in music,” she said.

Applications for the program open March 10, 2026, with the foundation aiming to empower aspiring artists across Africa, particularly those from underrepresented and underserved communities.

Through the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, the award-winning singer hopes to create a sustainable pipeline that will nurture talent, expand creative opportunities, and position African artists to compete on the global stage.
