Comedian DeeOne Faults Yinka Alaseyori for Apologising Over Security Comments

Nigerian reality star and comedian, DeeOne, has criticised popular gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori, over her decision to apologise to Nigerians following her remarks on the country’s insecurity situation.

The gospel singer had during a live prayer session stated that the Nigerian government was working on security and urged citizens to pray for President Bola Tinubu and security agencies. Her comments came amid public outrage over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

Following the backlash, Alaseyori released a video on Wednesday in which she tendered a public apology to Nigerians, a move that further sparked reactions across social media.

Reacting, DeeOne claimed the singer made her initial comments while “in the spirit” and insisted she should not have retracted them, alleging that she apologized under public pressure rather than spiritual conviction.

He further stated that Alaseyori “chose to displease God to please men,” adding that her apology was influenced by backlash and fear of losing public support or event bookings. According to him, she should have sought divine guidance before responding to critics.

DeeOne also warned against what he described as spiritual compromise, insisting that the singer’s actions could have consequences, while urging her to remain firm in her faith. He referenced other gospel ministers as examples and encouraged her to remain spiritually grounded, adding that ministers of God should not yield to pressure from public opinion.
