The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee ahead of elections into its Executive Committee for the 2026–2030 term.
NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau performed the inauguration on Thursday at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, urging members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and impartiality.
Speaking on behalf of the committees, Chairman Barr. Matthew Burka’a (SAN) assured stakeholders of a transparent and credible process.
“We will approach this task with the seriousness it deserves,” Burka’a said. “On behalf of all members, I assure the NFF, football-loving Nigerians, and the global community that we will conduct a free, fair, credible, and acceptable election.
“We are mindful of the attention of the entire world, including FIFA and Confederation of African Football, as well as the Nigeria football family. There is nothing to fear. We will work diligently to ensure this election becomes the best in the history of the NFF.”
Gusau announced the composition of the committees as follows:
Electoral Committee
Chairman: Barr. Matthew Burka’a (SAN)
Members: Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, Esq, and Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole
Alternate Members: Arinze Azubuike Anughele, Esq, and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi, Esq
Electoral Appeals Committee
Members: Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke, Barr. Benjamin Sati, and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal
Alternate Members: FIFA Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam
In accordance with NFF statutes, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, MON, the federation’s General Secretary, will serve as Secretary to both committees.
The NFF Executive Committee elections are scheduled to take place in Lafia on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Director General of the National Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu; NFF First Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu; and Executive Committee members Silas Agara and George Aluo, alongside other management staff.
