A northern youth leader, Danbature, has dismissed the chances of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi becoming Nigeria’s president in the 2027 elections.
In a viral video making rounds online, the Arewa youth president said northern youths would not back Obi’s presidential ambition, especially because of reports that the former Anambra State governor is considering serving only one term if elected.
According to him, Obi’s presidential dream is unrealistic, insisting that he can only become president “in his dreams.”
Danbature also criticised the idea of a four-year tenure, describing it as unacceptable to many northern youths. He maintained that young people from the region would have a strong influence in deciding who leads the country in 2027.
“We the Northern Nigerian youth will decide who will be the president of this country,” he said in the video.
He further stated that Obi does not fit into their political plans, adding that his presidential ambition remains “a no-go area” for them.
