Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Bayelsa State, defeating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and economist Mohammed Hayatu-deen.
The result was announced in a statement shared on Tuesday by the African Democratic Congress through its official X handle, confirming Amaechi’s victory in the state exercise.
According to the party, Amaechi secured a total of 44,404 votes to emerge winner of the Bayelsa State presidential primary.
Atiku Abubakar came second with 6,570 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen polled 939 votes in the contest, according to the figures released.
The Bayelsa outcome is part of the ongoing ADC presidential primaries across the country, where delegates are voting to choose the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election.
Although the party is yet to announce the final national collation of results, early figures from several states indicate that Atiku is still maintaining a lead overall as the exercise continues nationwide.
