Manchester United have confirmed that Michael Carrick has been appointed on a permanent basis as head coach following an impressive spell in charge that ended with a third-place finish in the Premier League.
The club announced the decision on Friday, stating that Carrick has signed a new contract to continue leading the team after initially stepping in on an interim basis.
Carrick took over managerial duties in January after the dismissal of Rúben Amorim and quickly steadied the squad during a crucial part of the season.
Under his leadership, Manchester United secured Champions League qualification, finishing the campaign strongly with a notable run of results.
Speaking after signing his new deal, the 44-year-old former United midfielder described the opportunity as a proud moment, saying the club has always held a special place in his life since he arrived as a player two decades ago.
He also praised the squad’s response under his guidance and expressed confidence that Manchester United can now push forward with renewed ambition, insisting that both the team and supporters deserve to compete again for the biggest honours in football.
