Ebuka Obi-Uchendu Opens Up on 13-Year Smoking Struggle and Journey to Overcoming Addiction

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has spoken candidly about his past struggle with smoking, revealing how he battled addiction for years before eventually managing to quit.

He shared his experience on a recent episode of the “MENtality” podcast, where he appeared alongside singer Banky W and social media doctor Aproko Doctor.

Ebuka disclosed that he started smoking in JSS3 and went on to struggle with the habit for about 13 years. He added that by the time he got to university, the addiction had become severe, with him smoking as much as two packs of cigarettes a day.

He explained that breaking free from the habit required deliberate effort and personal discipline, eventually leading him to overcome the addiction after years of dependency.

During the conversation, Banky W also reflected on his own past struggles, revealing that he once developed an addiction to pornography while trying to overcome promiscuity, noting how one unhealthy habit can sometimes replace another.

Aproko Doctor added that many addictions stem from people trying to escape emotional pain or discomfort, stressing the importance of self-awareness, discipline, and intentional choices in overcoming destructive behaviours.
