The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed owners of hotels and event centres in Abuja to deny access to any political party faction not recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), warning that failure to comply could lead to the revocation of property titles.
The directive was issued on Friday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, amid escalating internal crises within several political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, venue operators are expected to strictly engage only with INEC-recognised leadership of political parties, while also maintaining proper documentation of all bookings and related transactions.
The administration explained that the measure is aimed at safeguarding public order and preventing political gatherings that could potentially disrupt peace within the Federal Capital Territory.
It further warned that any breach of the directive would attract severe sanctions, including the possible revocation of title documents attached to affected properties.
The order comes at a politically sensitive moment, as major parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party continue to grapple with internal leadership disputes, where INEC recognition remains a decisive factor in determining legitimate authority.
