Manchester City F.C. have confirmed the appointment of Enzo Maresca as the club’s new head coach, with the Italian signing a deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2029.
Maresca takes over from Pep Guardiola, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Premier League champions after Guardiola’s successful spell in charge.
The 45-year-old is expected to immediately begin preparations with the first team and will also be heavily involved in the club’s transfer activities ahead of the new season.
Maresca previously worked under Guardiola at Manchester City and was part of the coaching crew that guided the club to a historic treble-winning campaign. His return is viewed as a move to maintain continuity in the club’s football philosophy and style of play.
Widely admired for his tactical approach and possession-based system, the Italian has built a strong reputation in recent years, with City’s leadership convinced he is the right man to lead the team into a new era.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the development on Tuesday, revealing that Maresca had already signed his contract and would play a key role in transfer decisions moving forward. Manchester City are expected to officially unveil him and announce details of his coaching staff in the coming days.
