Ned Nwoko Reflects on APC Primaries, Alleges Broken Assurances

Senator Ned Nwoko has spoken about his experience in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, raising concerns over internal agreements and how the process eventually played out.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, Nwoko said some individuals who moved into the party were initially assured by the then national chairman that they would be accommodated within the party’s leadership structure and considered for appointments.

He explained that there were expectations of a power-sharing arrangement, including the dissolution of the state executive to allow for nominations that would help the old APC structure gain stronger influence in government. However, he said those arrangements were never implemented.

Nwoko also claimed that before joining the party, he was promised an automatic ticket, but said he was later required to go through the normal primary election process, which he described as a departure from what he was initially told.

On the outcome of the primaries, the senator insisted he had evidence showing he performed strongly across several wards and maintained confidence in his position despite disputes over the results.

He further stated that some of the challenges to his claim were based on limited evidence, saying, “We won in 98 wards. All that Ifeanyi Okowa did was just to throw evidence of one ward where there was an issue.”
