Sarafadeen Alli Clinches Oyo APC Governorship Ticket as Adelabu Alleges Irregularities

Oyo South Senator, Sarafadeen Alli, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Oyo State, securing a comfortable lead over his closest rival.

According to the declared results, Alli polled a total of 578,143 votes to defeat former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who recorded 19,193 votes, while another aspirant trailed far behind with a minimal tally.

The outcome marks a significant political milestone for Alli, who will now carry the APC flag into the 2027 governorship race in the state, following a tightly watched contest within the party.

However, the exercise has been met with controversy, as Adelabu who resigned from his ministerial position to contest raised concerns over the credibility of the process.

Speaking to journalists, Adelabu alleged that the primary was manipulated in several areas, claiming that irregularities were widespread across the state.

He further alleged that in some wards, voting was conducted ahead of the scheduled time, with results allegedly pre-filled and figures already decided before the exercise took place, describing the process as deeply flawed.
