Tinubu Speaks on Priorities for Possible Second Term in 2027

President Bola Tinubu has disclosed what his administration would focus on during the first two years of a possible second term if re-elected in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the ongoing Africa CEO Forum in Rwanda, Tinubu said his government would continue working to address emerging national challenges while sustaining ongoing economic reforms.

According to the President, leadership requires continuous innovation, strategic thinking, and timely decision-making in the interest of the people.

“I have to continue to reset and rethink and then challenge the intellectual curiosity,” Tinubu said.

“The philosophy I came with in governance is believing that the hallmark of a transformative leader is the ability to make decisions and do what ought to be done at the right time on behalf of the people.”

Tinubu explained that his administration took difficult decisions during its first term despite public criticism and resistance, insisting that those measures were necessary for long-term national progress.

“If you miss that curve, you are not on the path to success, and that’s what I believe. First time, we took hard decisions regardless of the pain.

“I stopped reading newspapers and commentaries because I knew there would be strong pushback, and there was,” he stated.

The President added that despite the initial hardships, the country is beginning to witness positive economic signs.

“I was sitting on a hot burner, but we made the curve today. There is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu said.

He further maintained that Nigeria’s economy and currency had become more stable and predictable, enabling better planning for businesses and citizens.

“The economy is stable. The Naira is stable and predictable. Planners can now do a reasonable budget and plan their lives better,” he added.
