Umahi Orders Partial Opening of Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road Ahead of Sallah Travel

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately open all completed sections of the highway to ease movement during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

He said the directive was aimed at making travel safer and more convenient for motorists expected to use the route during the festive period.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Francis Nwaze, in Abuja, the minister noted that an earlier accident on the road had already been cleared. He also said security agencies had been deployed to strategic points along the corridor to maintain order and ensure safety.

Umahi assured road users of improved security and safer travel conditions throughout the Sallah holidays, urging motorists to remain cautious and cooperate with security personnel on duty.

According to the statement, some sections of the road had previously been closed to allow contractors working on the reconstruction project carry out their duties without interruption.

He added that the partial reopening of completed sections would help reduce traffic congestion and improve the flow of movement for travellers during the holiday period.
