The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 42 personnel to provide security for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Enugu State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Enugu by the command’s spokesperson, Pamela Chukwu.
According to her, the deployment is aimed at ensuring a smooth, safe, and hitch-free conduct of the nationwide examination.
Security Measures Across CBT Centres
The 2026 UTME is scheduled to hold across Nigeria from April 16 to April 25, with each candidate expected to sit for about two hours.
A total of 21 approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres have been designated across Enugu State for the exercise.
Chukwu explained that two NSCDC officers have been assigned to each centre, while additional mobile monitoring teams have been deployed across the seven Area Commands in the state to strengthen oversight.
Commandant Orders Strict Monitoring
She further revealed that the NSCDC State Commandant, Elijah Willie, has directed officers to maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity throughout the examination period.
“The commandant will conduct unscheduled visits to examination CBT centres to assess operational effectiveness and issue on-the-spot directives to enhance performance,” she stated.
The deployment is also intended to prevent examination malpractice, restrict unauthorised access, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety of candidates, officials, and facilities.
Commitment to Professional Conduct
The spokesperson reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to a coordinated and proactive security operation during the UTME period.
“All deployed personnel are expected to maintain the highest standards of discipline and vigilance in the discharge of their duties,” she added.
The initiative underscores the NSCDC’s role in safeguarding critical national examinations and ensuring a secure environment for candidates across Enugu State.
