The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the alleged killing of a 33-year-old woman whose body was dumped in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended following intelligence gathering and digital forensic analysis after the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a detailed investigation.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the case began on March 13, 2026, when the deceased’s mother reported her missing at the Oraifite Divisional Police Headquarters.

The following day, March 14, 2026, her lifeless body was discovered in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, and was later identified by her father as that of his missing daughter.

The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara and 20-year-old Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, were arrested on June 6, 2026. During interrogation, the principal suspect allegedly confessed to luring the victim to his residence under false pretences before attacking her with a machete alongside the second suspect.

The police said both suspects admitted involvement in the crime and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims.
