Learn the Bible Before Preaching, Pastor Ayintete Tells Dolapo Lawal Over Salvation Doctrine

The lead pastor of Goodness Nation, Apostle Harrison Ayintete, has criticised Pastor Adedolapo Lawal of Zoe Household Global over his teaching on the “once saved, always saved” doctrine, advising him to “learn the Bible before teaching.”

Ayintete made the comments in a post on X, where he challenged Lawal’s interpretation of salvation and insisted that believers who have received eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ cannot lose their salvation.

The disagreement followed a recent sermon by Lawal in which he rejected the doctrine of “once saved, always saved.” He argued that salvation requires continuous faith, repentance and a lifestyle of holiness.

Lawal maintained that although believers may have assurance of salvation through faith in Christ, the Bible contains repeated warnings about falling away, abandoning the faith and living in ways contrary to the gospel.

He referenced New Testament epistles and Jesus’ messages to the seven churches in Revelation as evidence that Christians must remain obedient rather than assume salvation is permanent regardless of conduct.

He further argued that the belief in unconditional eternal security can encourage moral carelessness in the church and weaken the call to holiness, stressing that Scripture should be read in full rather than relying only on verses such as John 3:16.

Reacting to the sermon, Ayintete wrote:

"Pastor Adedolapo Lawal, sir, I thought you knew better than this.

"According to your own John 3:16, the one who has believed has eternal life and will perish, right?

"Eternal life is the life of God; you said it yourself. So does God’s life face condemnation? Does God’s righteousness perish?"

He argued that the epistles of the New Testament were written to guide believers into spiritual growth and maturity, not to question whether they remain saved.

"The epistles are for revelation, development in ministry, maturity in that which we have received, warning against lifestyles that do not reflect our righteousness.

"Spiritual development and growth is never the same as spiritual birth," he said.

Ayintete also rejected Lawal’s claim that “hyper-grace” teaching is responsible for rising immorality in the church.

"You even said hyper-grace is the reason sin is everywhere. How many churches actually preach hyper-grace? Are you saying all sins in RCCG are sponsored by hyper-grace? All the lies in Deeper Life? Do they not lie in your own churches?

"You people talk like you produce better saints than others," he said.

He further challenged Lawal to a public debate on the issue, insisting that the subject should be openly discussed.

"If you are so sure that hyper-grace is not in the Bible, set up a proper debate on the subject. I will meet you there because at this point, we need that conversation," he added.

In a follow-up video, Ayintete accused some ministers of deliberately misrepresenting hyper-grace teachings.

He maintained that Jesus’ statements in John 3:16 and John 10 affirm eternal security for believers.

"The Lord Jesus said in John 3:16 that whoever believes in Him has eternal life and will not perish.

"Jesus repeatedly said, ‘I give them eternal life and they shall never perish.’ Ephesians 1 says we are sealed with the Spirit unto the day of redemption," he said.

Ayintete argued that believers overcome sin through the power of the Holy Spirit rather than through fear of losing salvation or eternal punishment.

"We believe in hyper-grace, we preach it, and we raise godly believers to the glory of God. We are not going to be silent anymore," he said.
