Tinubu, Madagascar President Hold High-Level Talks in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with Madagascar’s President, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

President Randrianirina arrived at the State House at exactly 2:57 p.m. local time and was welcomed with ceremonial honours, including an escort by bagpipers from the Presidential Brigade of Guards.

The visiting Malagasy leader was received by a Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, before being ushered into the President’s office complex for the bilateral discussions.

The meeting marks Randrianirina’s first official visit to Nigeria since assuming office in October 2025 following the political transition that led to the departure of former President Andry Rajoelina.

The visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Madagascar, with both leaders discussing areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

Key issues on the agenda include regional development, economic growth, and advancing continental integration as both countries seek deeper collaboration within Africa.
