US Military Ended Killings of Christians in Nigeria, Says Trump

United States President Donald Trump has claimed that the US military played a key role in ending the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Trump made the statement on Friday during an event in Washington, where he highlighted his administration’s security operations and counterterrorism efforts in different parts of the world.

According to the US President, American military intervention in Nigeria significantly reduced attacks allegedly targeted at Christian communities, particularly in regions affected by insurgency and violent extremist groups.

“As you know, we recently struck Nigeria and largely ended the slaughter of great Christian populations,” Trump said.

He described the situation before the alleged intervention as extremely dire, claiming that thousands of Christians, including women, children, and elderly people, had been brutally killed.

“They have a great Christian population. They were being butchered. Thousands and thousands of people were being killed—children, women, old people—just being slaughtered, hacked to death,” he stated.

Trump further claimed that the military action dealt a major blow to those responsible for the attacks, saying key leaders of the group were eliminated.

“They know that if they go further, the attack will be far greater, and they don’t want to get involved anymore. We hit them very hard. We knocked out their leader. We knocked out their second leader and their third leader,” the US President added.

Trump's remarks came as he discussed his administration’s broader efforts to combat terrorism and strengthen global security during the Washington event.
