Sultan Calls for Swift Rescue of Abducted Borno Pupils, Says Every Nigerian Deserves Equal Protection

 

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue schoolchildren recently abducted in Borno State, insisting that every Nigerian life is equally valuable and must be protected.

The revered traditional ruler made the appeal in a statement issued through his media office, stressing that the commitment shown in rescuing kidnapped victims in one part of the country should be extended to every community facing similar security challenges.

He specifically urged the Federal Government, the Borno State Government and security agencies to work in close coordination to ensure the safe return of the abducted Borno pupils, expressing hope that they would regain their freedom without delay.

While making the appeal, the Sultan congratulated the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and the nation's security and intelligence agencies for the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo State after spending 56 days in captivity. He described the operation as a commendable example of what can be achieved through effective collaboration.

According to him, the outcome of the Oyo rescue should inspire greater confidence in the country's efforts to tackle insecurity while encouraging stronger cooperation among governments, security agencies and citizens.

The Sultan also called on Nigerians to reject terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, ritual killings and other forms of violent crime, noting that no religion supports criminality or the taking of innocent lives.

He further encouraged religious leaders, traditional institutions and members of the public to assist security agencies by volunteering credible information that could help expose criminal elements operating within their communities.

The Sultan concluded by praying for the continued recovery of the rescued Oyo pupils and teachers and expressed hope that every Nigerian still in captivity would soon be reunited with their families.
