President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed delight over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, praising the security agencies for bringing the 56-day ordeal to a peaceful end.

In a statement issued on Friday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for their coordinated operation, which secured the safe release of the victims without any collateral damage.

According to Onanuga, the security operation also led to the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers, while several others were neutralised during the rescue mission.

President Tinubu described the operation as a major victory against criminal elements, noting that it ended more than 50 days of anxiety for the victims, their families, and the nation.

"I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and the arrest of eight of them," the President said.

He added that the successful operation had brought relief to the affected families and the entire country, while expressing appreciation to members of the Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and the police for their professionalism and dedication.

President Tinubu also expressed sympathy to the rescued children, their teachers, and their families for the trauma they endured during their captivity. He assured Nigerians that those responsible for the abduction would face the full weight of the law.

"My government will get justice for these children and their teachers and for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who the terrorists gruesomely murdered," the President stated.

The President further praised the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue efforts, describing the partnership as instrumental to the successful outcome of the operation.

He also urged the state government to strengthen security measures around schools to safeguard students and teachers from future attacks.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu has directed relevant emergency response agencies to work closely with the Oyo State Government in providing immediate medical attention, psychological care, and other necessary relief support to the rescued pupils and teachers as they begin their recovery.
