Canada-based Nigerian chef, Zainab Oladipo, is gearing up to make history by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. The record-breaking feat will take place in Kamloops, British Columbia, where she plans to prepare a staggering 15,500 dishes from 195 countries over the course of 300 continuous hours — approximately 14 days — from July 29 to August 12, 2025, at 326 Victoria Street.
In a statement released by her management on Thursday, the event was described as more than a record attempt — it is a global celebration of culture, food, and humanity. “This is about feeding, inspiring, and giving back,” the statement said, echoing Oladipo’s chosen motto.
Oladipo aims to transform her passion for food into a movement that promotes cultural exchange, community connection, and resilience. Guests attending the marathon will enjoy free meals, with each dish representing a unique culture or region from around the world.
“This is more than just cooking — it’s a movement,” Oladipo said. “I want to prove that a woman, an immigrant, a Black Canadian — from right here in Kamloops — can dream big, and achieve something extraordinary.”
To support the marathon, her team has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of ingredients, logistics, and volunteer coordination. They’ve also called on local businesses and residents to contribute through donations, partnerships, or volunteering their time.
This will mark the first time a Nigerian-Canadian chef in Kamloops has attempted such a global culinary challenge, and her team believes the initiative will inspire countless others.
“Her mission reflects the spirit of unity and determination that transcends borders,” the statement added. “Zainab is not just cooking; she’s creating a legacy, one dish at a time.”
Beyond breaking records, Oladipo’s event is focused on making a statement about inclusion, representation, and the power of purpose-driven ambition.
