Kogi Varsity Describes Lecturer’s Death with Female Student as Disturbing, Urges Caution on Speculation

The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has described as tragic and disturbing the recent death of Mr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Department of Social Science Education, who reportedly passed away last Thursday in the company of Miss Glory Ojochegbe, a student from the same department.

In a statement issued by the University Registrar, Yahaya Alilu, on Friday, the institution expressed deep sorrow over the incident and confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the true circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The university urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information, stressing that jumping to conclusions without factual basis could mislead the public and tarnish innocent reputations.

While responding to rumours linking another student, Miss Bello Yahaya Lubabat of the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, to the case, the university firmly disassociated her and other students from the incident, warning against the circulation of baseless allegations.

“The university remains committed to the values of truth, fairness, and justice,” the statement read, adding that it is important to allow the appropriate authorities to complete their investigation before drawing conclusions.
