Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Monday, paid a condolence visit to Aisha Buhari, widow of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, and her family in London, United Kingdom.
Shettima travelled to London on the directive of President Bola Tinubu following Buhari’s passing on Sunday at about 4:30 pm in London. He arrived on Monday morning, accompanied by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
On arrival, they were received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.
President Tinubu announced Buhari’s death and ordered Shettima and Gbajabiamila to proceed to the UK to accompany the former President’s remains back to Nigeria.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023 and as military Head of State from January 1984 to August 1985, will be laid to rest in Daura on Tuesday according to Islamic rites.
As a mark of respect, President Tinubu also directed that flags be flown at half-staff nationwide.
