Army Commander Calls on Media to Expose Misconduct, Pledges Accountability Drive

The Commander of the 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ahmad Dikko, has urged journalists to help the military identify and report personnel involved in unprofessional behaviour.

Dikko made the appeal while addressing reporters at the command headquarters, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, stressing that any soldier found breaching military standards would face disciplinary action.

He specifically called on the media to expose cases of soldiers carrying out unauthorised assignments, such as escorting private individuals or performing personal services for public figures. The commander reiterated that discipline and professionalism remain core values of the Nigerian Army, warning that misconduct would not be tolerated.

Dikko, who assumed office on February 2, 2026, also pledged to strengthen cooperation with other security agencies to improve the protection of lives and property. Acknowledging that no institution is without challenges, he said constructive feedback from the public and press can help the Army improve its operations.

He described journalists as a crucial link between the military and society, calling for sustained collaboration to build trust, enhance transparency, and strengthen national security efforts.
