Busola Oke Clarifies Emotional Video, Denies Suicide Claims

Gospel singer Busola Oke has dismissed reports that she contemplated suicide, explaining that her recent emotional live video was widely misunderstood.

Speaking on the Talk To B Podcast, the artiste said her appearance online was prompted by frustration and loneliness, not any intention to harm herself. She stressed that at no time did she state she planned to take her life, describing the public reaction as a misinterpretation that quickly spiralled beyond her control.

“I never said I was going to commit suicide. It was a misinterpretation,” she said, noting that her words had been taken out of context.

Oke recounted that she felt unusually low, isolated, and emotionally drained before going live, explaining that she simply wanted reassurance and connection. During the session, she asked if anyone cared about her and encouraged friends to share the video and tag others so she could see messages of love and support.

According to her, what began as a vulnerable moment intended mainly for friends soon turned into widespread public speculation about her mental state. She added that she never planned to expose herself emotionally online and has always been someone who prefers privacy.

The singer also revealed she has faced major personal challenges since 2020 but chose to remain silent about them because she dislikes being pitied or treated like a charity case, saying she prefers people to relate with her naturally.

Oke concluded that although she was deeply sad at the time, the video should not have been interpreted as a declaration of self-harm intent, describing it instead as a moment of vulnerability and an attempt to seek emotional support.
